Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Route & Comparison

Why is this route called the ultimate Rinjani loop?

Because you enter via the Senaru rainforest route, climb to Sangkareang Peak, descend into the volcanic caldera to the lake, and exit via the Torean Trail. You cover three distinct ecosystems without repeating any section of the path.

How does the Torean Trail compare to the Senaru descent?

The Senaru trail is primarily dense jungle, whereas the Torean Trail passes through dramatic rock canyons, open river valleys, massive waterfalls like Penimbungan, and steep rock ledges. Torean is visually more diverse and adventurous.

Is Sangkareang Peak safer than the main Rinjani Summit (3,726m)?

Yes. Sangkareang Peak (3,200m) consists of solid mountain earth and rock rather than the sliding volcanic gravel (scree) of the main summit, offering better grip and reduced risk of sliding.

Safety & Requirements

Is the Torean Trail safe for hikers with a fear of heights?

The Torean Trail features several narrow trails carved into cliff walls and wooden/metal bridges over gorges. While safety handrails and steps are installed, those with severe fear of heights may find certain sections intimidating.

What level of fitness is required for this loop trek?

A moderate to high fitness level is required. Day 2 includes both a morning summit push and a steep 1,200m descent to the lake, while Day 3 involves a 14km hike through canyon terrain.

Accommodation & Logistics

Where do we sleep on Day 2 of this trek?

You will camp in dome tents set up by our porters directly on the shore of Segara Anak Lake (2,000m), just a short walk from the natural thermal hot springs.

How do my heavy bags get from Torean back to Senaru?

Your main luggage remains locked in our Senaru office during the trek. When you finish at Torean Village on Day 3, our private transport brings you back to Senaru to shower and collect your belongings.

Can I be transferred directly to Gili Islands or Lombok Airport after the trek?

Yes! After finishing in Torean and retrieving your bags in Senaru, our private driver will take you directly to Bangsal Harbor (for Gili Islands), Kuta, Senggigi, or Lombok International Airport.

Meals & Facilities

How are the hot springs visited during the trip?

The natural thermal pools are located about 10-15 minutes walking distance from our lakeside camp on Day 2. You will have ample time in the afternoon to soak in the mineral waters.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions like vegetarian or vegan?

Yes, our mountain cooks prepare fresh meals on-site and can easily accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or halal dietary needs. Please inform us upon booking.
